Default Question about conditions:

I was reading this fansite in an effort to learn more about the mechanics of the game, and I noticed that it seems to consistently define health degeneration pips as being -1 per pip per HALF-second rather than per full second, as in the following quote:
Quote:
Bleeding causes the target to suffer health degeneration of -3 (target loses 6 health/second).
Not just bleeding either, but all the conditions on that page are defined like that. Is this information wrong/out of date, or are the conditions described there special cases and each degeneration point caused by them works twice as fast as normal?

The confusion is caused because at one point the system was one pip = one health. That is no longer the case and now 1 pip = 2 heath, however some descriptions, may reflect the old data. This really has nothing to do with conditions actually, its any health degen whether caused by a condition or a hex.

Health degeneration of 3 is indeed -6 health per second, just as health regeneration of 9 is +18 health per second. Each pip is plus or minus 2 health every second.

It's slightly different for energy, where each pip is 1/3 energy per second.

OMG!! I'm SHOCKED!!! This makes spells like Blood Renewal, which I considered useless, SO POWERFUL!! Why couldn't AN specify this!
Is this the case for EVERYTHING, including energy regeneration, or just health?

Ah, right, your post superceded my reply! That's VERY low, I thought that was one per second (as well).

Actually, it doesn't make it all that powerful, although it is towards the start of the game. However, after Ascension you'll see Warriors able to do more than a consistent 50 damage per second, for example. This makes the capped 20 de/regeneration allowed by DOT/healing skills not seem so good. Of course, it can be nice on top of other damage, but I wouldn't recommend basing a build around DOT.

Edit: I should make it clear that I mean the cap is +/-20 health per second, or 10 pips either way.

No it's not horrifically powerful, but a lot more than I thought it was!

Ah, you see, I didn't know about that either! But still makes Blood Magic a lot more appealing than it was...
